MANAGING YOUR
SUBSCRIPTION FROM THE WEB
In this section, we describe how to manage your subscription from the Web. In the interest of brevity, the options detailed below are limited to those which past users have found especially important. LISTSERV provides quite informative on-line help for each option. Details of each option can be obtained by pressing on the option headings.
Join a New List:
Within the User Interface page for the list you wish to join:
¨ Select the link entitled “Join or Leave the list (or change settings)”
¨ We suggest that you update your subscription real-time. If you choose to do this, select the “login with your LISTSERV password” link.
¨ A login screen will appear, login.
¨ After successfully logging in, the “Join or Leave the <listname> list page will be displayed with some of your information filled in.
¨ Confirm that the correct list name, username and user e-mail address is shown on the Web page.
¨ Select a subscription type from the following:*
Normal (Default): you will receive an e-mail for each posting to the list as it is distributed.
Digest: you will receive all postings at regular intervals, typically daily or weekly. This allows you to read all of the traffic on the list, without clogging your mailbox with many messages. Digests are available in different formats depending on your e-mail system’s configuration.
Index: For each posting you will receive the following information: date, author's name and address, subject of the message and number of lines for the message at periodic intervals. You can then download messages of interest from the server.
¨ Select a Mail header style.*
¨ Select an Acknowledgement option.*
¨ Select one of the Miscellaneous options,* if desired:
¨ Select Mail Delivery Disabled Temporarily, if you wish to stop e-mail delivery for a brief period of time (this is a great idea if you are going on vacation and is required if you want to put an auto-respond on your account informing people that you are out of the office, but please remember to disable it when returning home).
¨ Select Address concealed from Review Listing, if you wish to conceal your name within a review command (a review command provides information about a list, including it’s configuration and subscribers). Typically Loyola’s lists are configure so that only the list owner and site administrators can receive reviews.
¨ Press the “Join the List” button to confirm your operation.

[E-Mail Method: To simply subscribe to a list from e-mail, create an e-mail in the account you wish to have registered, address the message to listserv@listserv.loyola.edu, enter the following in the message portion of the message:
SUBSCRIBE listname <your full name>
and hit send. Don’t include any other text in the body of your message.]
After successfully joining a list, you should receive the LISTSERV system welcome message and may also receive a welcome message from the list’s owner providing more information. Please keep both of these messages, as they will assist you in using LISTSERV in the future.
Update your subscription for a List:
Within the User Interface page for the list you wish to update:

¨ After successfully logging in, the “Join or Leave the <listname> list page will be displayed with your current information filled in.
